South African,
Gail Machanik studied at the Michaelis, UCT., Fine Arts Academy, Italy and Silvermine Artists Guild, USA. She has participated in joint and solo exhibitions in
South Africa, UK and USA. Over the past few years she has concentrated mainly on printmaking and facilitating artists in all forms of printing in her press studio in Johannesburg.
She says, “I love the countryside and this is evident in my work, which often has a rural background. I have always used the female as my theme, depicting women in all her guises and roles, the central embodiment of comfort, support and love.”
